Confident Conversations - 2025 June (Inaugural Semester)

Welcome to Sesame Seed Learning! At Sesame Seed Learning, we aim to help you achieve your English speaking goals by providing you with live, interactive English training.

The Confident Conversations Course will focus on enhancing your ability to have clear conversations with English speakers, particularly in the U.S. Focus on clear pronunciation of some of the most common words and phrases used in every day situations will be given primary attention. Identifying troublesome words/letters will be a natural part of this course, and with practice throughout the course, it is anticipated you and others will notice a marked improvement in the clarity of your speaking. Having an upper-level beginning or intermediate English speaking ability is a prerequisite for this course. We hope you will find this course to improve your clarity of speech and your advance your knowledge of common English vocabulary and phrases.

Methodology:

The Confident Conversations course will work on the mastery of common vocabulary words and ~5 phrases each class period. The vocabulary words and phrases focused on will be from among the most frequently used phrases used by in common conversations. While there will be some time dedicated to the review of previous words and phrases, most of the time in each class will be focused on the new vocabulary words and phrases for each day - making these classes modular and independent, benefiting those who may not be able to attend every class.

Typical Class Outline:

Each class will be held for 50 minutes. The beginning of each class will typically include an enlightening 5-minute cultural exploration - you won’t want to be late! A typical class may consist of the following:

  • Cultural Exploration (5 minutes)

  • Review of Vocabulary Words and Phrases from Previous Days (5 minutes)

  • Introduction of Vocabulary Words and ~5 New Phrases (10 minutes)

  • Group Breakouts/Individual Assessments with Instructor (25 minutes)

  • Wrap-up (5 minutes)

Requirements:

Classes will be taught live via Zoom in English. Students must have a stable internet connection and be capable of handling a Zoom connection. For the Confident Conversations course, students must have an upper-level beginning or intermediate knowledge of English. Audio must be utilized throughout the class period. At times, students may need to pause their video, which is acceptable. It is understood that at times circumstances may cause students to arrive late to class - you are always welcome to join, but you will want to be on time as often as you can to not miss the beginning cultural exploration portion. Additional Outside Classroom Work:

Students may be provided with additional optional work that can be performed outside of the class periods. This additional work will provide students with the opportunity to work on additional vocabulary words and words which will expand their abilities. However, it is optional and designed for the benefit of those desiring to dig deeper. Most of the class periods will focus on the new and previously covered material.

Certificate of Completion:

Those attending 80% or more of the classes for any given course will receive a certificate of completion. Once 4 certificates have been earned, a 1-year Diploma Certificate will also be awarded.

Instructional Delivery:

It is expected that most of the classes will be delivered live via Zoom by the listed Instructor. However, there may be occasional classes that must be taught by a substitute Instructor or a particular class may be canceled completely or a particular class will be replaced by another class offered at the same time but on a different day (e.g. Saturday). This is expected to happen rarely if ever, but Sesame Seed Learning, LLC reserves the right to make such changes. Students will be reimbursed for the cost of a single class in the case that a single class is ever completely canceled or that the modified class day can not be attended by the student.
